Shamanic Healing for Truma
How can shamanic healing heal trauma? You might have heard about these modalities called power retrieval or soul retrieval. Today, I'm going to discuss these modalities and explain how I, as a practitioner and healer, perceive shamanic healing in the context of trauma. This practice has roots that go back centuries and even thousands of years, known as soul retrieval.
I've performed soul retrieval in different ways, more traditionally and intuitively. I've studied this from various sources, although I don't hold a degree in psychology or psychotherapy, I'll share how I believe it works and how shamanic views can integrate into modern times.
During a moment of trauma, such as an attack, physical abuse, an accident, or any terrifying event, the body goes into "freeze mode," rendering it unable to fight or flee. The energy meant to aid survival becomes frozen, causing the negative energy of the trauma to be stored in the body.
This stuck energy affects the body, leading to different dysfunctions in the general psyche and the body's energy scheme. Consequently, the body remains in survival mode, affecting normal brain functionality and overall bodily processes. In such a state, logical reasoning diminishes, and blood flow shifts from certain areas as the body focuses solely on survival instincts.
This survival mode is good for a short-term emergency but, if prolonged, leads to post-traumatic stress and its accompanying symptoms—such as anxiety disorders, depression, panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares, and hyper-vigilance. Trauma can vary significantly among individuals.
For some, a traumatic event could be witnessing something happening to another person, even if their body isn't physically harmed. The emotional impact can be traumatic, leaving an imprint on the soul, psyche, and emotional body. It might also stem from merely hearing about or being afraid of a potential threat.
How one experiences trauma is deeply personal and can be triggered differently in various individuals. Trauma is intensified when one feels helpless and cannot take action. It can also arise from prolonged continuous events, such as abuse or bullying, leaving the body in a perpetual survival mode.
Now, let's delve into how shamanic healing views trauma. Traditionally, soul retrieval is a way to recover soul fragments that were lost due to traumatic events. It's akin to losing blood when wounded; if too much soul energy is lost, functionality becomes impaired. Therefore, these lost soul particles carry the trauma, and the purpose of soul retrieval is to reclaim these lost fragments for healing and restoring wholeness.
For shamanic practitioners, the goal is to retrieve these particles through ceremonial journeys or by shifting mindsets in the affected events. This process involves a shaman guiding the client through inner child work, family constellations, and reprocessing the trauma from different perspectives. The aim is to facilitate the retrieval of these energy particles and their reintegration.
The actual approach can vary: a shaman might physically blow these particles into the client's body or direct the client to reclaim them within their vision. The essence of this practice is to move the frozen energy and actively engage in reclaiming these soul fragments to bring healing and integration. The pace and nature of the healing journey may differ for everyone, but the fundamental aspect is accepting what happened, moving the frozen energy, and integrating the lost particles into the present self to find healing and empowerment.
The shaman and the client work together to retrieve these soul particles, ideally focusing on the core traumatic experiences. Going to the root issue enables the client to process the experience. This might lead to discomfort, tears, and sometimes physical reactions as in any deep therapeutic experience. However, the healing ceremony's role is to ensure a safe space for the client to navigate through this discomfort and retrieve these energy particles.
Various methods—be it family constellation, retrieving particles in a shamanic journey, or changing the event's response in the subconscious mind—are all intended to help heal trauma. Ultimately, these practices aim to retrieve these lost soul particles, release frozen energy, and reclaim a sense of wholeness, allowing the individual to move forward as a healed, functional, and beneficial member of their family, work and society.
I hope this discussion sheds light on how shamanic healing can address traumas, whether big or small, in various individuals. Wishing you successful healing in your future endeavors.
